10) Kariuoa Slums
Date: 6th March 2021
The mission to Kariua Informal Settlement took place on the 6th of March 2021. Kariua is located about a kilometer away from Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD). The Informal Settlement houses about 1,000 people most of whom are former street people. Majority of these people depend on causal jobs for daily wage and some times the jobs are hard to come by.
On 6th March, we distributed 100 food packages to 100 families in the informal settlement. The beneficiaries were indeed very grateful as they each walked home with shopping that would feed their households for the next two to four weeks.
One particular woman responded to this cause by saying , “Thank you for thinking about us, I am so happy that I do not have to worry so much about where food will come from for some time. God bless you so much”.
Afterwards, we received gratitude messages from other men and women who had received food packages expressing their gratitude to all who make the food donations through Nash and Friends Hands of Compassion possible.
Indeed, all giving goes a long way in touching the lives of many families in Kenya.
